Since 2022, CABAIA has been a mission-driven company, guided by a desire to continually improve for the environment and animal welfare.
Mission-driven… but what exactly is our mission? It’s to offer backpacks and luggage that respect animals and the planet, making your travels more beautiful. But that’s not all! We also strive to raise awareness among our generation about environmental issues by emphasizing the durability of our products.
So, in addition to protecting animals and actively supporting their well-being, we ensure that our products are built to last!

Responsible Sourcing

At CABAIA, we are committed to increasingly using certified materials to guarantee durable and environmentally friendly products. For our backpacks and luggage, we prioritize GRS-certified recycled plastic to reduce plastic waste.

98% of our products are EVE Vegan certified, with the remaining 2% comprising beanie models made from WOOLMARK-certified wool—widely regarded as the Rolls-Royce of wool!

We also use GOTS-certified organic cotton, representing ecological and ethical production. To top it off, some of our textile threads meet the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 norms, ensuring they are free from harmful substances.

For our Winter 2024 collection, 67% of our backapcks and luggage include GRS-certified recycled plastic.

You know we love to joke around at CABAIA—but never when it comes to choosing our suppliers! We carefully and rigorously select them, ensuring they meet the strictest standards.

How do we ensure this?
By regularly requesting SMETA or BSCI audit reports from them, which guarantee responsible and fair practices.

Additionally, every single supplier is required to sign our Code of Conduct, demonstrating their commitment to upholding our values.

You know what? We believe so strongly in the quality and durability of our products that we offer a lifetime guarantee.
We are constantly improving our backpacks to make them last even longer, and each model is tested by an independent lab to ensure its durability.

Since 2021, we’ve been repairing backpacks returned under warranty with the help of an external partner. And as of May 2024, we now have our own in-house workshop with two talented seamstresses to fix any minor defects in your backpacks.

For those that can’t be repaired, we make sure they’re recycled to give them a second life.

Thoughtful Logistics

Prioritizing Maritime Transport
To minimize our environmental impact and reduce our carbon footprint, we favor maritime shipping, which emits significantly less CO2 than air transport. And to avoid shipping “air,” our logistics team meticulously optimizes the filling of containers and boxes. Don’t challenge them at Tetris—they’ll beat you hands down!

Eco-Friendly Packaging
When it comes to packaging, we favor cardboard boxes for delivering your precious orders—or even lightweight kraft paper envelopes when possible. Our products are currently packaged in home-compostable corn starch polybags, and we’re aiming even higher by replacing them with 100% recycled AND recyclable plastic backpacks.

By the end of 2025, 100% of our product packaging will be made from 100% recycled and recyclable plastic.

Our Decarbonization Plan

Since 2020, we have been conducting a full carbon footprint assessment every year, driven by our commitment to constant improvement. These assessments help us focus our efforts on minimizing CO2 emissions and reducing our overall environmental impact.

In parallel, we perform Life Cycle Analyses (LCAs) of our key products to identify stages where environmental challenges may arise. These analyses have enabled us to set clear goals for reducing emissions by 2033.

Our decarbonization plan, based on the SBTi methodology, defines our ambitions for the next decade. We are committed to increasing the use of recycled materials in our products and transitioning our suppliers to renewable energy sources.

By 2033, 50% of the energy consumed by our Tier 1 leather goods suppliers will come from renewable sources.
