Who is Wings of the Ocean?
First and foremost a field association, Wings of the Ocean operates throughout the territory via its branches and missions. The association operates on the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts. On the water, two ships make up the fleet of the association: the Kraken, emblem of the association, and the Scylla since 2022.
Since its creation,more than 135 tonnes of waste have been collected, 1100 collection actions carried out, and over 32,000 people have been sensitized. And they're not stopping there!

Their three main missions:
- Collect and Study Waste: On each mission, 3 collection actions are organized every week. In cities, the branches conduct collections throughout the year. Each collection is concluded by characterizing the collected waste, identifying those that are predominant in a territory.
- Scientifically Analyze Data: The data collected at the end of the cleanups are centralized on participatory science tools. Then, they are shared with the territories, accompanied by recommendations. In collaboration with the CNRS, scientists study a sample of the collected waste between 2024 and 2026, as well as the soils on which they are picked up, with the goal of better understanding the origins of the waste found in nature to then better combat the source of pollution.
- Sensitize the General Public: Transmitting to as many people as possible the importance of the good health of our ocean in our ecosystem and the impact of pollution by wild waste is a priority. Awareness actions are orchestrated throughout the year with schoolchildren, the general public, businesses, and local elected officials.
Our Commitments at Cabaia
We work with eco-responsible materials and ensure that our accessories have the longest possible life cycle. In this sense, our backpacks are made from GRS-certified plastic derived from post-industrial or post-consumer plastic waste. We favor the transport of our goods by boat and train.
